It is with a sad heart that the school farewells Mr. O’Brien at the end of Term 2. Mr. O’Brien was the first principal of the newly formed Cullinane College back in 2003 and has had a huge impact on the direction the College has taken over the last eight years.

Every Friday at 11am the students host the community in celebrating Mass in St. Joseph’s Chapel. The Mass is prepared and ministered by the students with the Chaplain being the celebrant each week. Everyone is welcome to join our students and we encourage all visitors to join us. It is an excellent way of sharing in the Eucharist and encouraging our youth in their Faith journies.

The regional Manu Korero/Paerangatahi Championships were hosted this year by New Plymouth Girls and New Plymouth Boys High Schools. This championship is the qualifying round for the 2011 national Maori Speech and Kapa Haka competition. Cullinane College’s team, Te Ngakau O Te Awa, has had a strangle hold on the Paerangatahi portion of the regional Kapa Haka competition for the last three years and were looking to become the only school in the history of the event to repeat as champions four years running.

Tena Koutou Katoa and welcome to Cullinane College. Cullinane is a young Catholic College that opened in January 2003. Our foundation Principal Mr. Tracy O’Brien left at the end of term 2 having set in place excellent standards and traditions. Later this term we will welcome our new Principal, Mr. Kevin Shore, who comes to us from Wanganui High School.

During the transition, Cullinane is continuing its mission- For Love of God, Life and Learning. Our Special Character underpins everything we do, building on the teachings and traditions of Jesus and the Catholic Church. The family-like environment encourages a caring attitude where every individual is noticed and valued. The goal for each student is that they become the best possible version of the person God created them to be. We look forward to meeting with you and discussing your daughter or son’s secondary educational needs.
