Tēnā koe e hoa Parents and Caregivers,
Hopefully you have enjoyed a wonderful extended holiday with your tamariki.
Term 1 was an extremely busy and rewarding experience for the students, staff and myself. It was exciting to see the new students settling into the school and becoming a part of our whānau. This term is going to continue in the same manner with a number of cocurricular activities happening: O’Shea Shield, Cullinane Day, Pasifika Fusion, Manu Kōrero & Pae Rangatahi and of course winter sports. These activities are extremely important to support the academic mahi and to develop well rounded and balanced student. Please remember that we have introduced the Participation Agreement this year for all co-curricular activities. One of the requirements of this agreement is that ākonga have an attendance rate of 85% or better and no major pastoral entries for infringements to our Code of Conduct. Students who do not meet these criteria will not be able to participate in co-curricular activities.
We felt it was important to remind all our whānau that we are entering winter which means a change over to our formal school uniform. In the past, I have explained that we are all working togther in raising our tamariki and the Kura needs your support by ensuring that your child attends school in the correct uniform. Our students are expected to be in correct winter uniform from the start of Term 2. Please refer to our website or Facebook page if you have any doubts about the correct uniform for your son or daughter. Andersons have a full list of our uniform requirements. Please take the time to ensure they have a tie, that trousers still fit etc. and take steps to rectify any missing items. Please note, that no student is to mix elements of the summer and winter uniform e.g. long trousers with a polo shirt.
You will be aware that the teachers who belong to the PPTA, are currrently undergoing industrial action. Two of the actions will impact our students attendance at the Kura. These are outlined below:
