Next week (from 31st of May to the 4th of June) we will be running a self-defence course for all girls in years 10, 11, 12 and 13. The course will contain 5 hours of training in self-defence. Course content will include:
* Students will learn to think confidently, speak strongly and use self-defence skills when necessary.
* They will learn ways of dealing with unsafe situations including:
How to deal with being followed
Obscene phone calls or texts
Acquaintance and stranger attacks
Sexual harassment
Getting out of grabs and holds
How to think their way out of threatening situations.
The courses are specifically designed to be age-appropriate and relevant to each year group of girls.
The course style is participatory, practical, fun and empowering. It includes discussions, games, physical sessions and role-plays.
ALSO, A REMINDER: Early Finish
A reminder that next Wednesday, 2nd of June, all secondary schools in the Whanganui region will be meeting in regards to subject moderation. The school will finish at 2 pm on this day.
